// PROTOTYPE_TO_METAL

Keep what the plastic print proved. Rebuild it for metal.

The prototype validated shape, fit, or motion. Upload STEP, STL, or both. STEP can remain the CNC source while STL remains the metal-printing mesh; material and post-processing are reviewed for each route.

Conversion direction matters.

STEP carries analytic surfaces and solid geometry. STL is a triangle mesh. Keep both when both exist: they serve different jobs and are not reversible equivalents.

STEP → PRINT MESH

Controlled tessellation

We can preserve STEP as the source reference and generate an STL/print mesh with settings appropriate to the additive review. The source CAD remains available.

STL → CNC MODEL

Geometry reconstruction

A mesh does not contain the original CAD surfaces or feature history. Where reconstruction is separately agreed, rebuilding STEP can change curves, holes, edges, and dimensions; the proposed model must be reviewed and approved.

Precision rule: if an original STEP file exists, upload it—even when the intended process is metal 3D printing. If STL is the only source and CNC is selected, the intake flags the conversion risk. This website does not perform automatic conversion; any separately agreed reconstructed model must be approved before manufacturing.
// SELECT_A_ROUTE

Choose a preference. Let geometry challenge it.

Your selection guides the review; it does not force the wrong process onto the part.

CNC

Machine the metal part

  • STEP strongly preferred
  • Precision interfaces and threads
  • STL reconstruction needs approval
METAL_AM

Print the metal part

  • STEP + STL retained when supplied
  • Complex and print-native geometry
  • Supports and post-process reviewed
